Newspaper Nonsense.

I had to take a break from reviewing the audio evidence from Saturday's Investigation. I was looking through Google for some haunted locations in Boone, NC and came across an article that was published online at

http://www.wataugademocrat.com/2007/1015/greenparkghosts.php on October 17th.

Basically a paranormal group called, The Hauntmasters Club, based in East Tennessee (www.hauntmastersclub.com), investigated the Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock, NC.

I read over the article and really found it to be quite ridiculous.

The article really focused on the groups feelings and so on and I have to state that this is really a bad way to go Ghost Hunting. While your feelings are certainly important in any situation, but when Ghost Hunting you are looking for actual evidence, not feelings of loneliness. In situations like this, it is easy for your mind to take hold and really create situations that you may believe to be paranormal.

Another thing that bothered me was a photo of man laying under the bed. Very unprofessional. The caption to the photo reads..."Jake Denton checks under the bed for both spooks and any easily explainable sources of electromagnetic radiation."

Come on. Any Ghost Hunter with a serious frame of mind would really find this disheartening. It is clear this person is playing around and I would find this disrespectful.

~~
I checked out their site and looked at the evidence from their investigation of the Green Park Inn and found a video that they had posted on youtube. I will post it here as well.

The caption to the video says this..."This is one of the more impressive surveillance videos from Room 318, allegedly the most haunted room in the hotel, at the Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock, North Carolina."

Watch the video and what do you see? I believe what they are claiming to be impressive is the "orbs" that fly by. Twice I believe.

To myself and the group this is nothing more than dust or a bug/insect that is out of focus in the room. Orbs are extremely hard to actually prove because the cause of them can be just about anything.

This is a great example of where different paranormal groups really differ in investigation techniques and how they analyze evidence. Unless there is something very odd about an "orb," in most cases it is something that was captured in the way of the lens, either it is too fast moving or too small to focus on.

This is just something that I wanted to touch on. Look for results from Investigation 4 soon.

Ummm.....what the heck is that crap? I think I have actually seen that kid before. On a milk carton.

Anyways, you need to create a blog here where people can post directions to different haunted locals. That would be great. Just an idea from your fellow ghost hunter.

Scott Nicholson put his own spin on our investigation, for which he only assisted for a few hours. We are not interested in anecdotal evidence, even though the Society of Psychical Research does lend credence to it. We are interested in objective phenomena and cumulative evidence. However, this was lost on a novice such as Scott.

Since you weren't in the room at the time of the investigation, let me clear something up for you. In the room where Jake was under the bed, there was a reason he was there. It wasn't to be cute, or funny-- the EMF detector was registering of the chart readings on the bed.

As a ghost hunter, I'm sure you know, that if there's nothing electrical in and/or around a "normal" bed, that there's absolutely no reason why an EMF detector should be giving such high readings. Jake climbed under the bed, to check for any possible electrical sources that could be accounting for such high EMF readings. As he was climbing out, Scott caught a light-hearted picture.

I'm sorry if you have absolutely no sense of humor, or are unable to see beyond what's written. It's so sad that so many groups in this area tend to enjoy flaming and critiquing each other instead of working together and/or being supportive. That's not something you'll find on our page and/or blogs.

We were experiencing EMF spikes around the bed. When we monitored the bed, the spot of high EMF was moving around the bed and above it.

Our member was under the bed trying to identify any possible reasons for the EMF to be moving; Wires, pipes, or other electrical sources.

We get down and dirty when it comes to our debunking.

I'm not a ghost hunter or anything like that. I was a guest at the inn. I spent my honeymoon at the inn in the honeymoon suite and heard the women in the room above me each night. I thought the entire time we were there that there was another couple upstairs. It wasn't until we checked out and I asked if someone was staying in the room above me, that I realized no one had been in the rooms next to or above mine. I also heard water running in the sink and bathtub during the night, but again I thought it was upstairs, so I just went back to sleep. That inn is haunted, but I don't think she wishes to hurt anyone.
